ABOUT US
Our use of artificial intelligence
Last updated: 5/26/2026
UC Compliance works alongside NDIS providers to help them meet their obligations under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Framework. The people at the centre of that work are NDIS participants — people with disability whose rights, privacy and dignity our sector exists to uphold. They, and the providers who support them, are entitled to know how we use the technology that shapes our advice.
We use artificial intelligence to do our work better. We do not use it to replace the human judgment, empathy and care that good compliance practice demands.
How we align with Australian Government and NDIS Commission expectations
As a compliance consulting business, alignment with government policy is not a marketing position for us. It is the work. Our use of AI is guided by, and intended to align with:
- The NDIS Act 2013 (Cth), as amended by the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Integrity and Safeguarding) Act 2026, together with the NDIS Code of Conduct and the NDIS Practice Standards.
- The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s AI Transparency Statement and its position statement on the use of AI in the development of behaviour support plans.
- Australia’s AI Ethics Principles and the Voluntary AI Safety Standard, including the Department of Industry, Science and Resources’ Guidance for AI Adoption (October 2025).
- The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
We recognise that the 2026 amendments to the NDIS Act expand the Commission’s oversight to include consultants and advisers, including this firm. We welcome that accountability and have built our AI practices to support it.
Where we use AI
We use approved generative AI tools to support our team in tasks such as:
- Drafting and refining policies, procedures and templates.
- Summarising legislation, Commission guidance and practice standards.
- Preparing accessible content, including Easy Read drafts and plain-language summaries, for further human review.
- Producing first drafts of training material and audit planning documents.
- Improving the clarity and accessibility of our written work.
Used this way, AI frees our team to focus on the parts of compliance work that require human judgment, professional experience and care for the people involved.
Where we do not use AI
AI does not make decisions in our work. In particular:
- No participant, provider or worker is significantly impacted by AI in our work without a named member of our team reviewing and taking responsibility for the outcome.
- AI is not used to determine, or appear to determine, a participant’s eligibility, risk, supports, behaviour support needs, restrictive practice authorisation or any matter affecting their rights.
- AI is not used to author audit findings, certifications or regulatory submissions in place of qualified human work.
How we protect your information
Identifiable participant information and confidential provider information are not entered into AI tools that have not been assessed and approved for that purpose. Where we use AI on client information, we do so only with tools we have assessed for security, data handling and Australian privacy compliance, and only where doing so does not put any person or organisation at risk.
We maintain an internal register of approved AI tools and review it regularly.
Transparency
Where AI has materially contributed to a deliverable we provide you — such as a substantial draft of a policy, audit report or written advice — we will say so. Where AI tools are used in meetings, including for transcription or note-taking, we will tell you in advance, and you can decline.
We are also happy to answer questions about our AI use directly.
Accessibility
Used well, AI is a powerful accessibility tool. We use it to help produce content in formats that work better for participants and frontline workers — including Easy Read drafts, plain language, translations and audio. Content intended for participants is always reviewed by a person before it reaches them.
Our internal governance
Our use of AI is governed by an internal Responsible Use of AI Policy approved by our leadership. The policy is reviewed at least annually, and earlier if relevant legislation, NDIS Commission guidance or government AI policy changes.
